Doc 57 - Decision - Car 23 - Alleged driving erratically

Original PDF → Behandlet:

2026 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX IN MALAYSIA 02 - 04 October 2026 From The Stewards To The Team Manager, Atlassian Williams F1 Team Document 57 Date 04 October 2026 Time 20:48 The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (documents 49 & 50) and heard from the drivers and team representatives, have considered the following matter and determine the following: No / Driver 23 - Alexander Albon Competitor Atlassian Williams F1 Team Time 16:53 Session Race Fact Driving erratically in the pit entry road. Infringement Alleged breaches of Article 1.8.5 of the FIA F1 Regulations and Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 e) of the FIA International Sporting Code. Decision No further action. Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 23 (Alexander Albon), the driver of Car 81 (Oscar Piastri), the team representatives and reviewed video, in-car video and telemetry. On the approach to the pit entry, ALB reduced his speed, causing PIA, who was following closely behind, to brake and take avoiding action. No collision or contact occurred. ALB explained that immediately before entering the pit entry road he became aware that he was below the required delta time and therefore reduced his speed in order to comply with the applicable delta requirement. PIA confirmed, having heard ALB's explanation, that he considered the reason for ALB's actions understandable. While the situation required a significant reaction from PIA and could potentially have developed into a dangerous situation, the Stewards were satisfied that ALB's actions were taken in an attempt to comply with the applicable delta requirements and explained the otherwise unusual reduction in speed at that location. His actions, therefore, did not constitute erratic or unnecessarily dangerous driving in the circumstances. Having considered the matter extensively, the Stewards determine that no infringement occurred and accordingly take no further action. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits. The Stewards Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
