2026 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX 22 - 24 May 2026 The Stewards From The Stewards To The Team Manager, Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team Document 54 Date 23 May 2026 Time 13:20 The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, have considered the following matter and determine the following: No / Driver 18 - Lance Stroll Competitor Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team Time 12:05 Session Sprint Fact Car 18 did not start the formation lap. Infringement Breach of Article B5.6.1 of the FIA F1 Regulations. Decision No penalty applied Reason The Stewards reviewed video, team radio and in-car video evidence. There is a requirement for cars to take part in the formation lap. Car 18 experienced mechanical problems on the grid, was removed appropriately off the grid, consequently repaired, and was able to start the race from the Pit Lane. Therefore it was unable to start the formation lap however the Stewards consider the above to be mitigating circumstances and so decide not to impose a penalty. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits. Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
